Lower house prices when more affordable homes are build, says SPNB

 

SEPTEMBER 30 , 2012

IPOH: Private developers are expected to lower house prices when more affordable homes are built, said Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) managing director Datuk Kamarul Rashdan Salleh.

He said house prices, particularly in the Klang Valley, had risen because of increased land prices, demands and construction material prices.

"However, affordable housing schemes such as the Rumah Mampu Milik and My First Home Schemes meet the demands with lower prices, thus, impacting the housing prices in the area," he said in a press conference here on Sunday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in his Budget speech on Friday, announced goodies including the building of 123,000 affordable homes at a cost RM1.9bil in key locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam, Johor Baru, Seremban and Kuantan. The houses will cost between RM100,000 and RM400,000 each.

Housing schemes such as Rumah Mampu Milik and My First Home Schemes are really great  because Malaysian can buy houses with a low prices. This kind of housing schemes should be have more in Malaysia so can stimulate the economy.
